Short Summary

"The Friendly Mongoose" is a tale about a loyal mongoose and a family. A farmer and his wife keep a mongoose as a pet to guard their baby. One day, while the farmer's wife is away, the mongoose protects the baby by killing a snake that had entered the house. When the mother returns and sees the mongoose with blood on its mouth, she assumes it attacked her child and, in a fit of rage, kills the mongoose. Later, she discovers the baby is safe and the dead snake nearby. Filled with regret, she realizes her mistake.

The story teaches the moral of avoiding hasty decisions and the consequences of acting without thinking.
