Introduction

       Food is an essential requirement for living organisms. A living organism will die without food. In this chapter, you will learn about Food – Where Does It Come From. The following points will help you to understand this chapter easily.

•     Food is essential for living organisms.

•     We get food from plants and animals.

•     The animals that provide milk and meat are called milch animals.

•     Animals that provide meat and egg are called poultry animals.

•     There is a lot of variation in the food eaten in different regions of India.

•     The main sources of our food are plants and animals.

•     Animals that eat only plants are called herbivores.

•     Animals, which eat only animals are called carnivores.

•     Animals, which eat both plants, as well as other animals, are called omnivores.

Answer.

No, all living beings do not need the same kind of food. There is a lot of variation in the kind of food eaten in the world. Living beings are divided into three categories based on the food they eat, these are herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores.

Spinach: leaves
