Chapter 3: Fibre to Fabric

Introduction

In Chapter 2, we learnt about the Components of Food. We learnt about the major nutrients of food like carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals. We also learnt about the Mid-day-meal programme and the diseases caused due to the deficiency of different nutrients in our body.

In this chapter, you will learn about the Fibre to Fabric. The following points will help you to understand this chapter easily.

•     Fabrics are made from yarns, which in turn are made from fibres.

•     Fibres are either natural or synthetic. Cotton, wool, silk and jute are some natural fibres, while nylon and polyester are some examples of synthetic fibres.

•     Fibres like cotton and jute are obtained from plants.

•     The process of making yarn from fibres is called spinning.

•     Fabric from yarns is made by weaving and knitting.

Let us try to answer some questions taken from the NCERT Book of Science Class 6th. This Exercise is taken from the same book.

  2. Thanks you for the amazing content. The purpose behind the decision of taking private tuition classes for class 11 is to get a chance to go in-depth with explanations on subjects which students don't get while taking double or group tuition.
