Grammar Work
Clause
A Clause is a group of words, which forms part of a sentence and has a Subject and
a Predicate. e.g.;
I
have a watch which is studded with diamonds.
In
the above sentence, there are two clauses, i.e.,
‘I
have a watch’ and ‘which is studded with diamonds.’
The first clause, i.e., ‘I have a watch’ is called the Principal or Main Clause and
the second clause, i.e., ‘which is studded with diamonds’ is called the Subordinate
or Dependent Clause as its sense is complete only when read with the Principal
or Main Clause.
NOTE:
Some sentences contain two or more Principal or Main Clauses and no Subordinate
or Dependent Clause at all.

Louis
lived the life of luxury. He slept on feather pillows before a fire and was fed
with salmon and caviar. But he was not satisfied with the life of luxury
because he sometimes stretched his neck and could see through the glass window
cats across the way dancing and walking freely beneath the sun. He thought that life outside the house might be paradise so wanted to live the life of
those cats on the rooftops. He managed to escape from the house and met a Tom
named cat outside the house. Tom told him that the life outside the luxury was
not for the weakling cats like him. Louis offered him to live with him but the
Tom said that he would die with all those fluffy pillows.
