Q1. Where is the Bactrian Camel found?

Ans. The Bactrian Camel is originally a native of Mangolia where it is called the Haftkai. However, it is also found in remote areas of the Gobi and Taklamakan deserts in Mangolia and China where it was heavily hunted for its hide and meat. In J&K, Bactrian Camel is found in Nubra Valley in Ladakh.

Q2. What is the most noticeable feature of the Bactrian Camel? How does it help the camel?

Ans. The most noticeable feature of Bactrian Camel is its two humps. Humps are used to store food which is used when the food is scarce. This feature gives the camel the ability to live for many days without food.

Q3. How does the Bactrian Camel adapt itself to different environment?

Ans. The camel has special features that help to adapt itself in different environments. Long narrow nostrils, dense eyelashes protect it from sandstorms. Its two humps provide it food during food scarcity. Snowshoes prevent sinking in the sand. Its different kinds of coats protect it from summer heat and winter.

Q4. Is the camel calf happy with Moosa Ali? If yes, why do you think so?

Ans. Yes, camel calf is happy with Moosa Ali, because it is seen clinging to Moosa Ali. It treats him as its mother.

Q5. What are the factors responsible for the increase in the population of the Bactrian Camel in Nubra?

Ans. It is due to the symbiotic or man-animal relationship that there is an increase in the Population of the Bactrian Camel in Nubra.
